Synopsis:

Obinna Kelvin Anyawu was born on August 10, 1983. A singer, songwriter and music producer whose stage name is Waconzy, he was raised in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. His love for music had been there as early as when he was in secondary school. Later in 2000, Waconzy was able to nurture his dream to fruition when he released his first hit single. While in the University, he was displaying his talents at different shows and events within and outside the University environments. After graduating from the University, he went for his National Youth Service Corps. The popular Nigerian musician did not stop there. His quest for knowledge further propelled him to bag a professional certificate in Project Management. After this, he set up his own establishment, which he called Dv8 Media. Aside singing, Waconzy is an internationally recognized philanthropist whose efforts at combating malaria in Africa have been recognized. In 2013, his ‘Waconzy Versus Malaria Zero Tolerance’ was honoured at an event organised in the US. For his music, he has won several notable Awards in Nigeria and beyond.

Waconzy attended Federal University of Technology, Owerri where he studied Project Management. After his NYSC in 2006, he earned a Professional certificate in Project Management.

Controversies:

In 2013, the Nigerian R&B artiste, Waconzy, was interviewed on Channels Television’s popular programme, ‘Robbin Minds’. After talking about his music career and foundation, the popular artiste remarked about Timaya, Terry G, Davido and Olamide, saying that they are ‘Noisemakers’ in the Music Industry. This was soon taken further on several social media platforms by fans who felt he went too far berating his counterparts.
