Synopsis:

Born in Abuja, on 3rd of November, 1984, the 32 year old Nigerian reigns as an excellent radio presenter, television host and author. Toke hails from Ondo State. She grew up in Lagos as the second in a large family of four siblings. She lost her parents at a very young age. She was raised by her foster parents, Mr and Mrs Akinyelure. Prophecy would have been mocked if it had been seen that Toke would be on air rather than on seat today. After her education, she worked a while at Zenith Bank Plc. She started out her career in cool FM treating sensitive issues to which her parents object. For this reason, she had to quit. After what seemed a long journey, through schooling, travelling to London where she tried to recreate her goals, luck came shining bright on Toke. In 2010, she got a job with Rhythm 97.3 FM as an On Air Personality. She instantly became popular with the Morning Drive, a show she hosts and through it gets her audience inspired and doused with tips and information required for the day. Toke hosted the 2010 most beautiful Girl in Nigeria Beauty contest. Quick as flash, she progressed rapidly and was privileged to co-host an entertainment programme, a 3 live Chicks, with Tosyn Bucknor and Oreka Godis. The community web entertainment programme later expanded to a full TV show in 2012. Makinwa failed to renew her contract with the TV station. Subsequently, her radio colleague “Omalicha” replaced her. In 2013, she was named ambassador of UAC – United Africa Company of Nigeria alongside Osas Ighodaro Dan Foster and Dare Art Alade. In a bid to become the new face of Maggi, she signed a multi-million Naira contract with Nestle Nigeria. In January 2014, Hip Hop World publicised Makinwa as the host for its Valentine show that year. On the show, she had the opportunity to interview various prominent names and personalities including Eva Alordia, Femi Kuti, OC Ukeje and Chidinma, just to mention a few. On 21st of May, 2014, she joined Moments with Mo as a guest host on EbonyLife TV. She featured several times with the TV network since then. In 2016, she became ambassador for face of Mecran Cosmetics. Toke Makinwa, the Nigerian pretty, elegant figure, was discovered to possess a net-worth of $2million. Her book On Becoming was well received by readers across the country. The intriguing experience book sells fast in the market.

Education: Toke had her secondary school education at Federal Government College, Oyo State. Then she attended University of Lagos where she studied English Language and Literature.

In 2015, Toke divorced her husband, Maje Ayida, after eight years of marriage. This was after the news that he impregnated his ex-girlfriend.
