Seun Kuti’s Biography



Seun Kuti, fully named Olusegun Anikulapo Kuti, is a Nigerian musician. The youngest son of the Late Fela Kuti, Afrobeat legend and human right activist, Seun was born on the 11th of January, 1983. He is currently 33 years old. From the start, Seun had always expressed his profound love for music at the tender age of 9. He started his performance with his father, as a member of his band. While in school, he got an opportunity to become an African Footballer to which he despised. He chose to stick to music, promoting the work of his father. After the demise of his father in 1997, he took up what his father left over, overseeing the band, Egypt 80. He was the lead singer of the band. Till date, his contribution to the music industry has been innumerable. Like his father, he too influences government decisions, in favour of the masses. It is no wonder why he was said to have taken after his father. He was a staunch critic of the new dispensation of government in Nigeria.

Awards: Seun Kuti has received US recognitions for late Fela Anikulapo kuti, his father.


Seun Kuti was involved in a scandal recently in 2016. A lady, Adaeze, revealed to the press that he was responsible for her pregnancy which resulted in the birth of a baby girl named Zuna. Not much was known of the mother though. Seun also once shared in an interview that he does not believe in marriage. People however regard the statement as nonsensical.
