Synopsis:

Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie popularly known in the Nigerian music industry as Patoranking; He is a music artiste and songwriter. He was born on 27 May 1990 in Ijegun-Egba, Lagos. He hails from Ebonyi State. When he began to gain audience, he would perform at street jams and carnivals. It was at Alpha beach that his stage name was given him by a music artiste from Jamaica. The word ‘ranking’ the second part of his stage name means ‘highly respected’ in Jamaica. Formerly known as Patorico, Patoranking’s style of Dancehall and reggae genre is unique. This makes him stand out amidst crowd of singers currently shaking the Nigerian music industry. He has collaborated with Timaya with whom he did a song ‘Alubarika’. It enjoyed a great deal of airplay across the country. Before then he had been doing music with artistes like Xproject, Konga, and Reggae Rockstone. Since then, the Reggae star has gone on to release other hit songs in which he featured popular artistes like Tiwa Savage, Sheyi Shey, Reminisce, Waje and many more. Currently signed to VP Records, Patoranking has won many awards.

Education:

After attending Citizen Comprehensive College and later Jibril Martin Memorial Grammar School, Ipori Lagos, he proceeded to Ghana for his university education. But he dropped out owing to financial difficulties.

Controversies:

On November 2015, Julius Agwu, a notable Nigerian comedian shared his opinion regarding the culture of ingratitude bedevilling artistes in the Nigerian entertainment industry. He observed that many of them are quick to have forgotten to give credit to him without whom none of them could have been where they are today. He went on to state names of such ungrateful artistes. No, Patoranking was not in the list. Not long after the said pronouncement, Patoranking stormed twitter with this epic tweet that went viral shortly after he posted it: “Must you tell people say na you help dat guy/girl? Must you… Do it and be quiet about it and see God in action.”
