Ice Prince’s Biography
Born Penshak Henry Zamani on 23 October 1986 in Minna, Niger State, Ice Prince is a household name in the Nigerian Music Industry. A renowned songwriter, singer and record producer, Ice Prince is an award-winning Hip Hop artiste who has carved a niche for himself in the highly competitive Nigerian music scene. His family hails from Jos, Plateau State, where he was raised, though he was born in Minna where he spent only two years. Like his counterparts and friends, Jesse Jagz and MI, Penshak too had developed a passion for music at an early age. As a high school student, he would rap and perform at his school events. That was in 1999. A year later, he decided to take his music to the next level. This made him form a group named Ecomog Squad, but they departed a few years later after a few performance. Later in 2004, he joined Loopy Crew involving MI and Jesse Jags and other artistes. Though pursuing his music career was not an easy ride, as he faced huge challenges, but determination and focus saw him through. In an interview, he narrated how he had to quit school due to financial difficulties as a result of his father’s death. Not long after that, his mother too died. Despite all these, Ice Prince firmly held on to his dream of becoming a music icon. After doing music with Loopy Music, he was later signed on to Chocolate City under which platform he released the widely received song titled ‘Oleku’. Thus, a music star has just arrived. He became so popular that his subsequent songs, which have enjoyed nation-wide airplays across radio and TV stations, have been nominated for several awards many of which he has won. Today, Ice Prince is a national phenomenon as he has performed at many concerts and festivals across the country and beyond. He has over 17 awards to his credits. In January this year, Maima Nkewa, girlfriend to Ice Prince, was accused of cheating on his lover by one of her followers on Instagram. This came after Maima posted a picture of Ice Prince and herself. Accompanying the picture were her words declaring her love for Ice Prince. If this was a mere allegation without substantial evidence, it could have been waved aside. But it was not, as the accuser went ahead to state that the name of the man was Akinbode who resides in Abuja. It did not stop there; he went as far as posting a picture involving the man and Maima. With this, the social media almost burst with series of comments from concerned fans of the music star expecting him to respond to the allegation.
