Hakeem Kae-Kazim’s Biography

Synopsis:

Hakeem Kae-Kazim is an award-winning Nigerian actor. He was born in Lagos on October 1, 1962. When he was very young, his family moved to London, England where he spent most of his adolescent age. He later moved to South Africa, then the US. While in England Kazeem’s penchant for the theatre inspired him to pursue a career in the performance. He began with plays in schools with the National Youth Theatre. His acting acumen was soon noticed and this led to his being granted a reputable space at the prestigious Shakespeare’s Royal Theatre Company. Kazeem is so top-notched in the film industry that he has been brand ambassador for several notable organisations home and abroad including Africa 2.0., a renowned civil society geared towards the transformation of Africa. Aside acting and theatrical performance, Kazim has been a regular face on many television series and commercials. Besides this, he is also remarkable with the use of his superb voice in a number of voice-overs. Have you seen the much talked about blockbuster film, Hotel Riwanda (2004)? Then you probably must have noticed Hakeem Kae-Kazim play Georges Rutaganda. He lives in the US, married to a South African, Bronwyn; they are blessed with three children: Aisha, Shade and Jadesola.

Education: In 1987, Kae-Kazim was trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

Popular Roles: Hakeem is notable for his role as Rutaganda in Hotel Riwanda in which he drew anagnoris from viewers through very emotional acting scenes. Similarly, his major role in Half of a Yellow Sun is also notable.
