I have to admit that I was pretty shocked when I first watched this video. Trust me, I don’t get shocked so easily, but this video hit me. It hit me like a truck.
It really made me wonder how exactly do children see their alcoholic parents. It must be a scary sight to see, especially for a kid. I was never really into drinking although my friends love to go out and “ party hard” ( it usually involves a night of heavy drinking ).
I was never really into all of that. I’m more of a “ stay at home, play video games and get blazed” kind of guy. Don’t get me wrong, I had some rough drinking nights back in my freshmen year of college, but I just hated hangovers. HATED THEM!!! That’s why I stopped drinking and turned to weed, and I must say – I love it! ☺
Enough about me, let’s get back to the video.
The video was created by a campaign called The Fragile Childhood which is designed to encourage people to share their thoughts about potentially dangerous parental drinking and the effects it has on children.
The Fragile Childhood activity has begun in 1986 and has been established as a well-known form of activity in Finland.
The campaign activities are also to highlight the fact that is still not widely understood how much harm parental drinking problems causes to children. For example, previous research has shown that every fourth Finnish child has suffered some harm because of its parent’s alcohol usage.
