Monalisa Chinda’s Biography
On 19 September 1974, an astounding beauty was born to an Igbo mother and an Ikwe father in the city of Portharcourt, Rivers State. The first of a family of six, Monalisa Chinda is one of Nollywood’s notable actress and television personality. She started acting actively in 1996 when she featured in the movie titled Pregnant Virgin. Then after graduating from the university, she also featured in a popular movie titled Above the Law and this launched her big time into the movie industry. It was in fact in 2007 that Monalisa’s acting prowess began to get noticed and appreciated by a large number of viewer’s of the popular television soap opera Heaven’s Gate. Since then, she has featured in many films, not only as an actress but also a producer and director. Besides acting, Monalisa is involved in several laudable projects including her consultancy with Royal Arts Academy and her regular column on Saturday’s edition of Sun Newspaper. She writes about relationship and social issues. In 2014, Monalisa planned to temporarily step aside from acting and filmaking in preparation for her newfond passion, a television talk show, ‘You & I with Monalisa’.
After completing her primary and secondary education at Army Children’s School, GRA and Archdeacon Crowther Memorial Girl’s School, Elelenwo both in Portharcourt respectively, Monalisa proceeded to the University of Portharcourt where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts.
Popular Roles: She often performs the role of a princess. At other times, she is stunning when she acts out as an enraged, frustrated wife cheated by an unfaithful husband.

In 2015, Monalisa cleared the air about her controversial beef with the colleague actress Rita Dominic. Sometime ago, the rumour spread about the misunderstanding between Monalisa and Rita. In the media, the easiest of the insinuations was a claim that the duo were only fighting because of a man. However, in an interview, Monalisa came out to say that she was not at loggerheads with Rita nor with any of her colleagues; that though they just ‘drifted apart’ she remained her sister.
