Yul Edochie’s Biography
Born on January 7, 1982, Yul Edochie is the son of Nigeria’s Nollywood icon, Peter Edochie. The last of six children, Yul Edochie is a popular Nigerian actor who has carved a niche for himself in the Nigerian film industry. Yul is a vibrant young actor who, having discovered his acting talent early, joined Nollywood in 2005. Since then he has been involved in many movie projects. But Yul did not become a star until after acting alongside remarkable Nollywood bigwigs like Genevieve Nnanji and Desmond Eliot in a movie titled Wind of Glory (2007). After this breakout, Yul has since not looked back. He has taken part in many popular movies and has won several awards. Yul married May Aligwe while he was only 22 years old, in 2004.
Yul’s basic education was a long journey as he was switching schools. Before bagging a BA in Dramatic Arts from the University of Portharcourt, he had attended several primary and secondary schools: Lillian’s Day Nursery School, Robinson Street Primary School, both in 1984-1992 in Enugu. For his secondary education, he went to Marist Brothers’ Juniorate, University Secondary School, Ecumenical Community Secondary School and New Haven Boys Secondary School in Enugu from 1992-1998.

Last year, the happily married Yul Edochie got his own share of the controversies rocking the movie industry. One day his fans woke up to the story of him being a gay. It was later revealed that this was coming from a man named Steve Ugochukwu who had been stalking the filmmaker for some time and claiming that he and Yul were gay partner. This brought a shock wave to the Lovers and fans of the artiste, generating many issues on the media, with journalists twisting the story here and there in order to sell their stories. But Yul was undeterred in his determination to dispel such blatant lies. So he came on open air to say that he and his family were doing great, and that was he most committed to his marriage.
