Popularly known by the stage name Harrysong, Harrison Tare Okiri was born on 30 March 1981 in Warri, Delta State. He is a Nigerian songwriter and singer. The only child of his parents, he was passionate about music at a tender age. As part of the choir in the church, he was a congarist serving his mother who was then the music director. Realising he could do better singing, he went to learn gospel music. Harrison did not have it smooth as a kid. When his mother died, his step-mother’s highhandedness forced him to drop out of school. It could well be what prompted him to relocate to Portharcourt in search of an avenue to nurture his music ambition. Moving to Lagos in 2007 finally paved the way for his musical glory, as he met Kcee through whom he joined Five Star Music. No soon had he released his songs ‘I’m in Love’ and ‘Taiye & Kehinde’ than he sporadically sprang to fame. Since then Harrysong has never looked back; he has been releasing songs upon songs which were hits topping several TV and radio charts across the country.

The ‘Reggae Blues’ crooner, Harrysong, is known for uploads of controversial pictures online. In June 2015, he appeared in a photo that went viral. In the picture, he was wearing a very cheap slippers. Not long after that, he released another one, this time more daring. He was clearly shown washing his own clothes in the bathroom. The questions on the lips of his fans were, why on earth was Harrysong showing off with this low things? Did he intend to reshape their admiration of music celebrities? Or maybe he was only being didactic, like there was more to singing than the paparazzi often displayed on stage.
